Morning Briefing: Rate Cut Hopes Lift Markets — Brixton, TDG, and Kalo Report Drill Results

Good morning and welcome back to the Mining Stock Daily morning briefing. I’m not Trevor Hall. My name is Michael McCrae and I will be covering for Trevor this week.

It's Wednesday, October 15th.

Gold futures rose 1%. The metal is now trading at $4,203. It is generally an up day for the markets with the major indices in the green due to some strong earnings and comments by the Fed chairman. S&P Futures and Nasdaq futures are all higher. Bank of America reported that profits were up 23%. Jerome Powell warned yesterday that the labor market was soft, increasing the likelihood of a Fed rate cut.

We’ll get to the news from the miners and explorers here in a moment, but first a quick word about today’s sponsor.

Brixton Metals announced today that drilling at its Trapper gold target in northwestern British Columbia intercepted 22.15 meters grading 4.44 g/t gold, including a high-grade section of 1.50 meters at 57.20 g/t gold. The Chair and CEO, Gary R. Thompson, stated that these results demonstrate the exceptional potential of the gold system, with other significant findings including Hole THN25-342 returning 4.00 meters of 2.22 g/t gold from 210.00 meters depth and Hole THN25-340 returning 30.85 meters of 1.47 g/t gold and 4.32 g/t silver from 61.65 meters depth. The company completed 6,272 meters of drilling from 30 holes at the Trapper Target this season, and with assays still pending for the remaining 13 holes, the gold zone remains open for expansion. TDG Gold reported 164.0 meters grading 1.02 g/t gold, 2.0 g/t silver, and 0.24% copper, which included a higher-grade sub-interval of 67.0 meters at 1.73 g/t gold, 2.6 g/t silver, and 0.32% copper. The company is conducting Phase I exploratory drilling program at its Aurora West target within the Greater Shasta-Newberry project in British Columbia. Other results include 60.1 meters grading 1.13 g/t gold and 0.30% copper (TDG25-003) and 92.9 meters grading 0.76 g/t gold and 0.23% copper (TDG25-005). The company said the results confirm the broad, significant nature of the mineralization and extend the Aurora West zone up-dip and to the north, suggesting a larger mineralized system than initially anticipated. CEO Fletcher Morgan noted that the success has warranted the addition of a third drill rig and is prompting the company to consider extending the program through the winter. (TSXV:TDG) News release

Kalo Gold Corp. announced a major new gold discovery at its Qiriyaga Complex in Fiji, with drill hole VA25-DH11 intercepting bonanza-grade mineralization of 12.80 g/t gold over 22.12 meters, including a high-grade core of 25.10 g/t gold over 10.05 meters. Kalo is drilling the Qiriyaga Complex on Kalo's 100%-owned Vatu Aurum Project in Fiji. (TSXV:KALO) News release

Alaska Silver Corp. anticipates releasing the assay results from its 2025 field program during the fourth quarter of 2025, following a successful exploration season at the 100%-owned Illinois Creek (IC) Carbonate Replacement Deposit (CRD) project in western Alaska. The season's 2,964.0 meters of drilling across 13 holes was completed prematurely due to winter weather, with a focus on both the Waterpump Creek South target and a newly discovered mineralization zone named Silver Sage. The Silver Sage discovery, which was identified through follow-up work on historical soil anomalies and confirmed by trenching that uncovered near-surface silver, lead, and zinc mineralization, is a significant finding that further indicates the large-scale potential of the CRD property, which the company expanded by staking 46 new mining claims.
