Morning Briefing: Collective Publishes Maiden Resource for Apollo, Aldebaran Drill 513m of 1.06% CuEq
Good morning and welcome back to the Mining Stock Daily morning briefing.
It's Wednesday, September 9th.
Gold is up 1.33% to $4,413 an ounce this morning, and silver is up 1.22% to $66.55. Copper is giving back some of yesterday's gains, off 0.86% to $6.68, while Brent crude has crossed the $100 a barrel threshold for the first time since July, up 2.55% to $100.41.
Brent's move above $100 is being driven by a combination of forces. US-Iran attacks have disrupted flows through the Strait of Hormuz, and a recovery in Chinese oil buying is adding demand-side fuel to the rally. Millions of barrels a day continue to cross the Strait, though largely on tankers operating with their transponders switched off.
In gold, some of the world's largest asset managers are reported to be rebuilding bullion positions after the metal's recent pullback, betting that the long-term structural case from geopolitical risk, central bank demand, and deficit spending remains intact even as the US Federal Reserve takes a more assertive tone on inflation.
We will get to the news from the miners and explorers in a moment, but first a mention of today's sponsor:
Today's episode of Mining Stock Daily is brought to you by…Equinox Gold.
